Norm Axford is a second generation locksmith who realises that to provide the best service, remain viable, progress and achieve all goals, we need to run a business as well as being great technicians.

He has undergone training in a number of areas, financial, accounting, computers, sales and marketing, all the while making sure the team are kept up to date with the latest technology.

Locksmithing was a natural progression for Norm, because his father was a locksmith.
Norm’s dad (Alan) was instrumental in setting up the Master Locksmiths Association in NSW (1966), was that associations inaugural President and remained as president until his untimely death in 1972.

Starting work for his father in 1969, he immediately began training himself in areas of business.

Over the years, Norm has involved himself in many activities relating to the locksmithing industry.
Included are some areas of activity.

• Canterbury – Bankstown apprenticeship awards
• Consulting on several changes to T.A.F.E. curriculum for locksmith apprentices
• Basic methods of training, for part time T.A.F.E. teaching
• Re-wrote the Master Locksmiths trade / entrance test 1985 and consulted again to re-write the test in 1999
• Became President of the Master Locksmiths Association NSW Branch 2000-2002
• Introduced technical advancements to trade testing new members
• Supervised many testing days
• Served on the marketing committee which is responsible for the current MLAA logo
• Advanced communication between members, introducing email to many and recording meeting minutes on computer
• Influenced new technology for the Melbourne head office
• Inventor of the Multi Function Lock, designed primarily for rolla doors
